Get Involved

The place to which God calls you is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.

-FREDERICK BUECHNER

We invite you to explore how your deep joy can meet a great need.

Even if you’re not sure about Christianity yet, we’ve got a place for you to serve. You might discover what so many other people have discovered: that while you think volunteering requires something from you, it will actually do something good for you and in you.

What we do makes a difference in the world – helping our neighbors near and far. These are usually short projects that happen throughout the year. We put together disaster relief kits for people in need. These can be hygiene kits to keep people healthy until basic services resume, cleaning buckets to provide the supplies for clean up after a fire, tornado, or hurricane. They can be school bags to help bridge the gap until kids can go back to school or have supplies once they get there.

The Magic Garden Project

Inspired by members of the congregation, The Magic Garden was the first school/community garden project in Wallowa County. The partnership with Joseph Charter School started in 2010 for the purpose of growing fresh vegetables with the students. A combination of grants from local individuals and businesses allowed the establishment of a garden at the school and near Imnaha which extended the growing season.

Three-four tons of food from the garden is utilized by the schools, food bank and volunteers each year.  Community volunteers are invited to help with this project.

The Children’s Chistmas Store

The Children’s Christmas store brings such delight to everyone involved! Children up to the 5th grade get to buy gifts for their family for 50 cents each. Of course the children get a personal shopper and each gift wrapped by Santa’s local elves. But the real joy comes on Christmas morning when the family gets to open their gifts with surprised joy!

The Store is supported by United Women of Faith, women on a mission to foster spiritual growth, education, service and advocacy. They meet the 3rd Thursday of the month at 1pm. One of their biggest yearly projects is the Children’s Christmas Store.

Infant Clothes for the Hospital

Every Christmas we fill up a cradle with onesies, blankets and booties for babies born at the Wallowa County Hospital. You can bring a gift to put in the cradle during the month of December.

Blessing Box & Library

On the corner of Main and 3rd Street in Joseph we fill a box with food for anyone who needs it. And while you are there, check out our free library!
